STRATEGIC TERRITORIAL PLANNING IN THE SORROUNDINGS OF GARCHING (CLOSE TO MUNICH AIRPORT)
In this seminar we worked on a general strategy on a territorial scale for the little city of Garching within the next 20 years. All the area has suffered several imbalances due to the construction of the airport and the settlement of "Wissensökonomie" nearby.
My research subject was focused on transport and mobility issues, and how the sorrounding area of Garching could be affected in the long term by the proximity of a logistic and global point like the Franz Joseph Strauss Airport in Munich.
After an firts intensive FODA analysis, during the process the need to strengthen an interurban scale is considered in order to increase the identity of the area, which is still nowadays a transit point between Munich and its airport. Previous operations, such as the construction of an important campus of the Technical University of Munich, have already begun this process of centralization of the site.
That's why it is important the improvement of the conexion between Garching and the nearby places, through the TRAM-TRAIN, an affordable and environmentally-friendly medium-speed transport that would reduce the commuting time for this increasingly populated region. A conveyance with a greater regularity, frecuency and accesibility that the current buses, suitable at the same time for the urban and the interurban scale..

PLANEAMIENTO TERRITORIAL ESTRATÉGICO EN LOS ALREDEDORES DE GARCHING (PRÓXIMO AL AEROPUERTO DE MÚNICH)
En este seminario trabajamos en una estrategia general de escala territorial para la pequeña ciudad de Garching con un plazo de 20 años.
Mi tema de investigación se centró en cuestiones de transporte y movilidad, y en cómo Garching y sus alrededores podrían verse afectados a largo plazo por la cercanía de un centro logístico y global como es el Aeropuerto Franz Joseph Strauss de Múnich.
Se valora durante el proceso la necesidad de potenciar una escala interurbana con el fin de incrementar la identidad de la zona, hoy resignada a ser un lugar de paso entre Múnich y su aeropuerto. Operaciones previas, como la construcción de un importante campus de la Universidad Técnica de Múnich, ya iniciaron este proceso de centralización del lugar.
Por ello se considera importante la mejora de la conexión entre Garching y los pueblos de alrededor a través del TRAM-TRAIN, un eficiente y sostenible transporte de velocidad media que reduciría los tiempos de trayecto para esta región cada vez más poblada. Un medio de transporte con mayor regularidad, frecuencia y accesibilidad que los buses actuales, apto como transporte urbano e interurbano al mismo tiempo.
